Temple of the Obsidian Moon app · Last updated: [08/05/2026]

The short version. There are no accounts, no logins, no analytics, and no advertising in this app. Most of what you do stays on your own device. Two parts of the Temple — the Temple Portal and the Cyber Altar — are shared spaces: what you write there is sent to us and shown to other people using the app. The dream log is different again: it is sent privately to us, may include your email so we can reply, and is never shown to anyone else. Nothing at all is collected in the Kid Zone.

The shared spaces

Please read this before you write anything in the Portal or the Altar. These are communal parts of the Temple. What you submit is stored by us and displayed inside the app to everyone else who opens it. Treat them like writing in a book left open on a table — not like a private diary. Do not include your full name, address, phone number, email, or anything else you would not want a stranger to read.

This information is stored in a private Google Sheet belonging to the Temple. We use it only to display the communal candle log, the offering basin, and the book of blessings. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything else. You are welcome to write under any name you like, or none at all.

If you would like something you posted removed, write to us at the address at the bottom of this page and we will delete it.

The dream log, in particular

The dream log works differently from the rest of the Temple, so it deserves its own explanation.

Dreams can be deeply personal. Please share only what you are comfortable having another person read, and consider leaving out details that identify you or anyone else by name.

What never leaves your device

Everything else the Temple remembers is stored only in your device's own storage. We cannot see any of it:

Clearing the app's data, or uninstalling it, permanently erases all of this. We keep no copy and cannot restore it.

Children's privacy

The Kid Zone is built for children, and we have deliberately made it so that nothing about a child is collected, transmitted, or stored anywhere except on the family's own device. A child's chosen name, their familiar's name, and their progress never leave the phone or tablet. There is no chat and no messaging in the Kid Zone: no child can send a message to anyone through this app, and no one can contact a child through it.

The Temple Portal and the Cyber Altar are shared spaces intended for our adult community, and are not offered to children. When the app first opens it asks for your date of birth. If the answer indicates a child, those two shared spaces are not shown, so a child cannot post to them.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has posted something to a shared space, write to us and we will remove it promptly.

Location

The Astrolabe can use your device's location to draw the stars as they appear above you. This is entirely optional — you can type coordinates by hand or search for a city instead, and the rest of the app works normally without it. When you do allow it, your coordinates are used on your device to perform the calculation and are never sent to us.

Other services the app contacts

These services see the network request itself, including your device's IP address, as is normal for any internet connection.

What we do not do

Purchases

The Temple of the Obsidian Moon is a paid app. Your purchase is handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details. Refunds are handled through Google Play under their standard terms.

Your rights

Anything stored on your device is already entirely under your control: clear the app's storage or uninstall it and it is gone. For anything you have posted to the Portal or the Altar, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we add a feature that collects information, we will update this policy before it goes live and change the date at the top of this page. If any change affects children, we will obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting anything.
